About The Cover
This cover was featured on the year 2002 Annual Report which marked the 25th anniversary of the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1997. In light of the anniversary, the cover of the 2002 Annual Report featured a few examples of past award-winning reclamation sites in IMCC member states as they looked in 2002.
The sites portrayed include (top to bottom/left to right): (1) Genstar Stone Products Company, Days Cove, Baltimore County, White marsh, Maryland (noncoal example); (2) Vigo Coal Company, Inc., Discovery #1 Mine, Gibson County, Buckskin , Indiana; (3) Willowbrook Mining Company, Guarnieri Mine, Lawrence County, Volant, Pennsylvania;
and (4) Coteau Properties Company, Freedom Mine, Mercer County, Beulah, North Dakota.
